Budget Demystified

Ten plain-English myth-busters covering the topics with the most misinformation circulating online. Every common claim graded — FALSE, TRUE, DEPENDS, CONTESTED — with the actual policy mechanics next to it.

A useful filter

When you see a strong claim about the Budget, ask: does it specify the date? (most changes start 1 July 2027 or later) Does it acknowledge grandfathering? (existing assets, structures and arrangements are usually preserved) Does it specify the asset / entity type? (super, commercial property, fixed trusts are often excluded) Does it cite the Treasury fact sheet? — that's the authoritative document. If a claim fails any of those tests, treat it as incomplete at best.
