About WTFBudget

Plain-English coverage of the 2026-27 Federal Budget — without the Treasury PDF marathon.

WTFBudget is an independent plain-English explainer of the 2026-27 Australian Federal Budget. Built for people who don’t have time to read a thousand pages of Treasury PDFs but still want to understand what the budget actually changes for them.

The articles you’ll read here cover the 30+ measures that affect ordinary Australians — bracket cuts, CGT reform, negative gearing, NDIS, aged care, healthcare, housing, energy, defence — and bust the myths that spread online about each one.

Who’s behind it

WTFBudget is built and run by Sevn Works Pty Ltd, an Australian company. The site is independent — not affiliated with the Australian Government, the Treasury, the ATO, or any political party.

How we source things

Every article is grounded in official material — Budget Papers 1 through 4, the Women’s Budget Statement, Treasury factsheets, and the relevant agency releases. We link directly to source documents wherever we can so you can check the underlying numbers yourself.

The big PDFs are also hosted on our /sources page if you want to read the originals.

What this is NOT

This is not financial advice. It’s not tax advice. It’s not legal advice. It’s a plain-English explainer that helps you ask better questions and understand the bits of the Budget that actually move your wallet. For anything that affects a real decision — investment, tax structure, business choice — talk to a qualified adviser.
